House Pile Specifications

Pinepac produces house piles ranging from 1.2m to 3.6m, treated to H5, and meeting the requirements of NZS 3605 and NZS 3640.

Pinepac produces house piles in the following sizes:

  • 600mm – 55 piles per packet

  • 750mm – 55 piles per packet

  • 900mm – 55 piles per packet

Note: The 600mm and 750mm piles are non-stock items but can be produced upon request with 24 hours’ notice.

We also stock house piles in the following lengths:

1.2m, 1.5m, 1.8m, 2.1m, 2.4m, 2.7m, 3.0m, and 3.6m, with 55 piles per packet.


SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Square piles shall have a minimum dimension of 125mm.

  2. The maximum length of house piles is 3.6m.

  3. Ordinary square piles shall meet the grade requirements for No.1 Framing grade timber as specified in NZS 3631.

  4. Growth rings must not be fewer than 4 rings between the pith and the nearest sawn face, whether or not the pith is contained within the cross section.

  5. House piles shall be made from Pinus species and treated to Hazard Class H5, as per NZS 3640. If a timber pile is cut, notched, bored, or otherwise processed after treatment, the processed area must be thoroughly dried (no visible wetness and dry to the touch) and brush-treated with a liberal application of timber preservative. The surface must not be cut for fixings or other purposes closer than 150mm from the finished ground level.

  6. The strength of the piles shall comply with the grade definition outlined above (No.1 Framing grade, NZS 3631), and they will be deemed adequate for their intended use.

  7. Ordinary square house piles shall be branded in accordance with NZS 3640, with the brand placed one third of the length from the top and facing upwards.

identifies the pile as being treated to the recommended hazard class for the intended end use.

01 identifies the CCA formulation used by the timber treater, whether it be CCA Oxide (01) or CCA Salt (02).
