Following the low of the season’s opening NZV8 round when Andrew Anderson’s Pinepac ITM Commodore was written off in a horrific high speed accident, the Pinepac Racing driver has been anticipating the completion of his replacement chassis that will hit the track for the first time in next weekend’s fourth round of the NZV8 Championship.

‘I thought our season was over as soon as it had begun after the Pukekohe crash – the car was junk’ said Andrew Anderson. Not deterred by the challenge to get back-on-track after one of the most graphic accidents seen in the class to date, Andrew and the team – aided by the support from their loyal partners and the generous offer from Nick and Michael Ross (fellow NZV8 competitors) to loan them a chassis – were able to fly their sponsors’ flags over the following two rounds.

‘I am indebted to the Ross team for the use of Nick’s old car. We showed that it had some life left in it yet and without it I would have been on the sidelines’ commented Anderson on the sportsmanship shown by their fellow Holden competitors which enabled him to compete at the Ruapuna and A1GP Taupo rounds of the championship.

Since returning to their West Auckland base, the team has been assisting AV8 Motorsport in the completion of Anderson’s new Pinepac ITM Commodore. Owner of AV8 Motorsport Wayne Anderson has been coordinating the build of this car since the November crash and is leaving no stone unturned during its construction. To emphasize the commitment Wayne is putting into the car, it has been fitted with a brand new AV8 engine.

‘To say that I am excited to get behind the wheel of the new car is a huge understatement’ said Andrew Anderson, ‘the new car is simply awesome and I cannot thank Wayne and Steve (AV8 Motorsport Head Engineer) enough for their efforts and I look forward to repaying them on the track at Manfeild’ commented Andrew on the imminent completion of his new chassis.

Having shown top 10 form at the opening round with their original chassis and being able to extract like performance from the Ross loan chassis, Andrew Anderson is confident of a solid result at Manfeild next weekend. With the latest Holden Commodore chassis and AV8 Motorsport technology at their disposal, the Pinepac Racing Team and driver Andrew Anderson are determined to feature strongly in the second half of the season which sees teams complete the final 3 rounds of the championship in a 4 week window.
